On Saturday, November 4th, l’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal will present its professional training program in anticipation of the 2024 Auditions. Aspiring dancers are invited to take part in a technique class, an information session and observe a rehearsal.

PROGRAM

Option 1 – in presence
9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.: Class – Vivus with James Viveiros
10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Presentation of the program
11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Observation of Fly creation lab rehearsals with Béatrice Larrivée and six EDCM graduate dancers.

Option 2 – in presence
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Class – Vivus with James Viveiros
11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Presentation of the program
12 h to 12 h 30 : Observation of Fly creation lab rehearsals with Béatrice Larrivée and six EDCM graduate dancers

Option 3 – online
12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.: Virtual presentation of the program

Notes:
– As participation in technical classes is limited, priority will be given to those who register and arrive no later than 15 minutes before the event. On the day of the event, people on the waiting list or who have not registered can still give their names at the reception desk. Vacant places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
– An e-mail will be sent out a few days before the event for both in person and online participants (check your spam!).

About the class

VIVUS/movement is a class based on concepts from contemporary dance, yoga, voice, and stretching techniques that encourage each participant to awaken their body through new sensations. We will move intuitively, in our own personal way, applying weight, speed, and flow of energy. This experience is an invitation to move without judgement, at one’s own pace, no approach being either right or wrong, allowing our sensations to guide us. Above all we will seek pleasure, joy, and release.

About the Ecole de danse contemporaine de Montreal

Specializing in contemporary dance training, the École de dance contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM) has positioned itself as a centre of excellence in the Canadian performing arts community. Recognized for its leading-edge, rigorous training, the EDCM is fertile ground for research and artistic development as well as for the emergence of new trends. Since its founding in 1981, it has trained over 450 professional dancers, who have gone on to earn national and international recognition.
